Everyone knows this is the time of year to be setting goals for your personal life as well as business life.  I am a big believer in setting goals and not only setting them but writing them down.  Put them on post it notes all around your house and car and everywhere you look so you don’t lose sight of what you are trying to attain.

Here are a few ways to make sure you set good goals that are achievable and attainable:

Put your larger goal on those post it notes everywhere you look but have your smaller goals in a calendar that you go to every day or have reminders sent to you to help you achieve those goals.

  1. Set a goal that is attainable but makes you uncomfortable
  2. Once you have that large goal in mind…break it down into several smaller goals
  3. Make them quantifiable…meaning have number associated with them.  Don’t say “I want to grown my team this year”…say “I want to add 5 new reps to my team this year”
  4. Break those goals down into very small chunks that you can do on a weekly basis to achieve the largest goal you have set.  In other words…how many phone calls or people do you need to meet to get 5 new reps for the year or have 3 parties a week?

It is too overwhelming to look at the larger goal and reach it…once you break it down…it seems possible and I just know you can achieve anything you set your mind to!!
